Tyre Check Service for the Public

Bridgestone Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd.

To appeal to the public the importance of safe and eco-driving, Bridgestone Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. conducted a tyre safety check activity at the parking area of Big Splash, a popular recreational spot located near the East Coast Park. During the checks, participating drivers were given tips about good tyre maintenance and correct tyre air pressure. Additionally, they also received promotional bags containing a tyre pressure and tread gauge, tyre safety booklets with MAKE CARS GREEN tips, and other souvenirs.

Coastal Cleaning

Bridgestone Tyre Sales Singapore Pte., Ltd.

Conducted annually, the coastal cleaning activity is aimed at preventing water and coastal pollution in and around Singapore. As a member of the Bridgestone group, Bridgestone Tyre Sales Singapore Pte., Ltd. plays our part in conserving marine life, nurturing ecosystems, and enhancing the environmental awareness of all stakeholders. Members of other Bridgestone group companies in Singapore also come together to take part in this activity every year.

The Nature and Agriculture Education Centre

Thai Bridgestone Co., Ltd.

Funded by Thai Bridgestone Co., Ltd, The Nature and Agriculture Education Centre (NAEC), was established in 2005 in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives as well as WWF Thailand as a learning centre for the environmental and nature conservation of central plains ecosystem. In the first phrase (2005-2007), Thai Bridgestone supported in the restoration of the site and development of environmental education activities while providing training courses on nature resource, ecosystem and environmental conservation for students through outdoor classes. In second phrase (2008-2011), Thai Bridgestone further contributed funding for the development of education areas, nature and environment education activities as an effective learning source.

Green Young Investigator Contest

Thai Bridgestone Co., Ltd.

In 2009, Thai Bridgestone launched a new environmental study project for students from 80 schools in 5 central provinces (Nonthaburi, Pathumthani, Saraburi, Ayudhya and Nakornnayok). In this project, students are given 3-7 months to conduct researches in environmental conservation of their community in order to contest in 3 award categories. This project is conducted in conjunction with the Nature and Agriculture Education Center Project as well.

Green Hands Activity

Thai Bridgestone Co., Ltd.

The Green Hands Activity was started in 2006 to allow Thai Bridgestone's managers, voluntary employees, their children and local students in communities of both Rangsit and Nongkhae plants to contribute to the society through environmental conservation, waste management, while learning about the eco-system and biodiversity. Through this activity, participants also have a chance to plant trees as a part of land-rehabilitation and to reduce global warming. Furthermore, these activities also allow participants to deepen relations amongst fellow employees, the local community, as well as with government and non-government organizations. This activity is held 4 times a year, annually.

Tyre Safety Communication Activities

Bridgestone Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

Events have been organized to communicate with car users and passengers about the importance of safety, as well as educate them with knowledge of correct tyre usage and maintenance through different kinds of activity depending on the target audience. The target groups are general car users, family, women, school bus drivers and students. Events have been done more than 200 times since 2003 at gas stations, department stores, hyper markets, tourist attractions, fun parks, express ways, residential areas, museums, education centers, schools and at Brigestone's Proving Ground etc. These activities have been conducted by Bridgestone Sales Thailand and sometimes in collaboration with the government and media.

Mangrove Planting

Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

As a part of Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing (Thailand)'s efforts to contribute to the society, a mangrove-planting activity was held at Chonburi's "Thai Island and Sea Natural History Museum" in September 2010. Approximately 149 staff members participated in this activity, planting about 300 mangrove seedlings in total. The museum was originally established by Thai Royal Princess Sirindhorn with the intention of protecting the coastal area from erosion and allowing the breeding of aquatic life. This planting activity had not only allowed staff to contribute to the society by improving coastal biodiversity, it also served as a good opportunity to strengthen relationships among staff members.

Eco Friends Drawing Competition

Bridgestone India Private Ltd.

To instill awareness of the importance of environmental preservation in children and their parents, Bridgestone India Private Ltd. (BSID) conducted an "Eco Friends Drawing Competition" at its flagship Concept Stores to promote Bridgestone's "Ecofriendly, Safe and Reliable" philosophy. With the belief that children are the most authentic and genuine brand ambassadors for a country, BSID decided target children in promoting Bridgestone as a responsible brand, with the hope that this will also be conveyed to their parents.
The children taking part in the activity were educated on how and why they should conserve the environment. The top three winners were awarded Bridgestone EcoDrive Medals, and every competitor received a certificate of participation and a plant sapling. The whole group, children and parents alike, took a pledge to care for the environment in the final minutes of the event. In total, 467 children at 8 concept stores participated.

Adopt-a-Tree Activity

PT. Bridgestone Tire Indonesia

The Bridgestone Bicycle Club (BBC) is an association of employees who ride bicycles as a hobby. In November 2011, the BBC held an activity called "Adopt a Tree" in which every member planted a tree each in a forest area administered by the Indonesian government. The trees planted were named after manufacturing plants that these employees work in and this activity was done with the hope of leaving a legacy for the future, where these employees may also return with their children and proudly say that they were the ones who planted the trees.

Coastal Cleanup

Bridgestone Taiwan Co., Ltd.

Bridgestone Taiwan has been carrying out coastal cleaning activities as a part of their efforts to conserve the natural habitat of marine life. This activity has been conducted every year in March since 1998, encouraging the involvement of many Bridgestone employees while raising the awareness of the importance of environmental conservation.

Tyre Inspection Activities along Highway Rest Areas

Bridgestone Taiwan Co., Ltd.

In Taiwan, Bridgestone conducts Tyre Safety campaigns at highway rest areas to encourage drivers to inspect their tyres regularly. Such activities are conducted to increase the awareness of safety as well as to promote environmental friendliness through greener driving habits among drivers.

Tyre Safety Checks for the Public

Bridgestone Tyre Sales (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

In August 2011, Bridgestone Tyre Sales (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd collaborated with The Automobile Association of Malaysia to organize a "Make Cars Green" campaign, conducting free tyre safety inspections and 10-point vehicle checks for motorists travelling on the local expressway. In the spirit of the Muslim New Year celebration, Bridgestone Malaysia also gave away 2,000 goodie bags containing "Make Cars Green" Tips, confectionery, and other festive goodies for motorists. The free tyre inspection has been an annual social contribution event for Bridgestone Malaysia since 2006. By incorporating the "Make Cars Green Tips" into the tyre safety campaign, Bridgestone hopes to inform the public on the 10 simple guidelines for green motoring. During this campaign, Bridgestone Malaysia offers a free 46-point car safety check at all Bridgestone AutoCare & Tyre centers and a 10-point car safety check at all Bridgestone PRO Shops nationwide.

One Tyre, One Good Deed

Bridgestone Tyre Sales (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

The "One Tyre, One Good Deed" campaign from 2010 to 2013 is one of Bridgestone Malaysia's green initiatives to conserve the environment. During the campaign period, Bridgestone Malaysia pledges the contribution of one Malaysian Ringgit to a tree-planting initiative for every Bridgestone ECOPIA, TURANZA, and B SERIES tyre sold. The proceeds will facilitate the rehabilitation efforts by the Global Environment Centre (GEC) at selected forest reserves in Malaysia. These efforts focus on water management, fire prevention, the replanting of seedlings, capacity building, activities to raise public awareness, and restoration exercises. Bridgestone Malaysia has contributed steadily to the local forest-rehabilitation program in Raja Musa, an area in the north-west of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On top of that, contributions were also acknowledged through certificates and a souvenir presentation by the GEC during the World Wetlands Day 2011 Celebration in February 2011 at Raja Musa.
